Product Introduction
The AT-GSG-400 Benchtop drum dryer (also used as a calender) is a specialized laboratory device for drying wet handsheets and coating specimens. It operates on the drum heat-exchange principle, simulating the drying section of an industrial paper machine. The drying element is an electrically heated, polished chrome-plated drum. Wet handsheets are placed on a felt carrier and fed into the drying zone as the drum rotates. The machine can dry multiple sheets simultaneously, significantly improving efficiency. The drum measures 400 mm in diameter with a roller width of 450 mm and an effective drying width of 400 mm. Maximum operating temperature is 120°C, with 5 kW heating power. Overall dimensions are 520 mm × 540 mm × 800 mm, and the machine weighs approximately 160 kg. It is characterized by simple structure, convenient operation, and long service life.
Key Features
Simulated Cylinder Drying: Replicates the drying method of paper machine cylinders, making laboratory sheet drying conditions more representative of actual production, and resulting sheet properties more relevant.
Efficient Multi-Sheet Drying: Capable of drying multiple sheets simultaneously, greatly improving laboratory productivity.
Polished Chrome-Plated Drum: The drum surface is polished and chrome-plated for excellent thermal conductivity and wear resistance, while imparting a smooth, glossy finish to the sheet surface.
Precision Temperature Control: Drying temperature adjustable up to 120°C, with an electric heating system and precise temperature controller to meet the drying needs of sheets with different basis weights.
Benchtop Compact Design: Overall dimensions of only 520 mm × 540 mm × 800 mm and weighing approximately 160 kg, saving valuable laboratory space and easy to install and operate.
Simple and Durable: Streamlined structural design makes operation and maintenance straightforward, with robust construction for long-term durability.

FAQ
I. Temperature Issues
1. Slow to heat or cannot reach set temperature
Aged or damaged heating element, displaced or faulty temperature probe, insufficient voltage. Inspect and replace heating element; reattach temperature probe; verify 220V power supply.
2. Temperature out of control, overheating
Faulty temperature controller, solid-state relay stuck closed. Replace temperature controller; inspect and replace SSR; recalibrate temperature limit.
3. Temperature display inaccurate, large deviation
Probe covered with scale or poor contact. Clean drum surface scale; mount probe firmly against drum surface; recalibrate temperature controller.
II. Drive and Transmission Issues
1. Drum not rotating, jerky start/stop
Motor fault, loose or detached chain, gearbox low on oil, or foreign object jam. Inspect drive motor; tension chain and lubricate; remove debris.
2. Abnormal noise, excessive vibration
Bearings dry or worn, machine not level, or drum eccentric. Apply high-temperature grease; level machine feet; calibrate drum concentricity.
3. Speed fluctuating
Faulty speed controller or loose wiring. Inspect speed controller; tighten wiring terminals.
III. Heating Element Issues
1. Uneven heating, one side hot and one cold
Uneven arrangement of heating elements or some elements burnt out. Test elements individually, replace damaged ones, and arrange uniformly.
2. Surface overheated, sheet scorched
Temperature set too high or sheet dwell time too long. Lower drying temperature; shorten drying time; reduce temperature for thin sheets.
IV. Drying Effect Issues
1. Uneven drying, wet and dry spots
Sheets placed crooked, drum surface not smooth, or poor air circulation. Lay sheets flat and aligned; clean drum surface; ensure adequate ventilation.
2. Wet sheet sticking to drum, tearing
Temperature too high or sheet too wet. Pre-dry at low temperature; reduce initial drying temperature; drain excess water before drying.
